well, that was a very long hiatus. the usual reasons, really- personal circumstances, lack of time, but mainly apathy. it's strange how something like this blog, which can quickly become an integral and valued part of life, can just as quickly become marginal again....at first, it's missed, then it becomes irrelevant or a chore. but it says something that it calls you back (or me, anyway). that is, it says something about habit, or desire for satisfaction, or compulsion; or all three, or other things.

everyone feels it some or other time - just that your life or your thoughts are not interesting enough to yourself to merit the expectation that anyone else would be interested - though that doesn't stop many, many, many - but maybe that is not the point. it is arrogant to presume an audience, just as it is arrogant to assume knowledge of the presumed audiences' likes or dislikes.

i noticed (as we all do, with varying quantities of shame in noticing our notice) that the counter has gone up in my absence. i could wonder if those visitors were looking for me, or who that is. i'll just say thanks for the curiosity, i am now back - and will endeavour to stay back, for my own sake, mainly.

so, i am technologically illiterate, but i have been playing about with the lovely new motime template, and have started randomly arranging posts in categories (this particular one will be called "general"). i mean that the process of arrangement has been random, not the categories assingned. i'm not systematically working backwards finding a place for each and every one. but what i have just noticed is that it is possible to give more than one category to a post, therefore sort of possible to cross reference. i shall try it.

i would like to get some more order into this thing anyway, as with anyones blog, the record of a whole time periods preoccupations should be of some use - maybe. but this category thing looks like a good toy for the purpose.
